Some ways we've given back:
November/09: A sold out Cooking Class with private chef Jonathan Miller was held in Shelley's kitchen in Watsonville. There was a whole lotta chopping and dicing going on in this very hands on class. We learned how to make Vegetables in Dijon Broth and Tuscan Peasant Minestrone, and enjoyed partaking in them, too! $400 in proceeds going to the Freedom School Garden.
October/09: A big THANK YOU to all who attended and/or helped make our Fall Harvest Fair at High Ground Organics on Saturday, October 10th a tremendous success! Besides being an opportunity to visit the farm and join in on many fun-filled activities, the event was a benefit for the Linscott Charter School in downtown Watsonville. With the help of 25 Linscott volunteers and contributions from both farms as well as many others, $7000 was raised to help maintain the school's art, music, and physical education programs.
Hundreds of CSA members and Linscott families and friends came to tour the farm, hop on a hay ride, get creative with arts and crafts, and savor strawberries, BBQ and other delicious treats. By the looks of these photos, a great time was had by all!
September/09 Cooking Class at a CSA member's home in San Francisco: All proceeds went to Project Open Hand -- $175 raised.
August/09 Cook with James class in San Francisco: $270 in proceeds went to Modern Cooks.
July/09 American Cancer Society "Relay for Life": both farms provided veggies for a fundraiser dinner!
June/09 Cooking Greens Class at chez Julia and Andy: all proceeds went to Freedom School Garden: over $200 earned
